I now
hear myself talking
To myself ever
so often,
And find myself
seeing
Everything with
a sight softened
My environ now
has many
Newly
discovered sounds,
No longer do
small things
Recede into the
background
With a deep
intense awareness
Do I
unknowingly look and find
Something
precious and new
In routine
things that were a grind
Driving past
the earthy chaos
Of vegetable
markets once ignored
I see them
through your eyes
Finding a
quaintness that can be adored
Tribal dances till now oft overlooked
Now draw and
beckon me to view
And I find
myself enchanted
With an avid
interest renewed
I sit lost in a
crowded food court
Watching
families hustle in the noise
And in their
earthy native faces
I find plenty
in which you will rejoice
I know my
homeland may now never
Again feel like
my home alone
For in my mind
I now dress her up
So that someday
she may be yours…
