WE HAVE NO ONE BUT EACH OTHER

This path, this meandering path

Of jagged memories

And inclement weather

That we tread together

Our songs whispered to the winds

The sheltered seeds of our dreams

That we sowed, we hoed

Watered with our sorrow together

Our lives entwined in serpent embrace

We braced

Brutal storms, knowing

Always that we are alone

Separated from the world at large

By the torment of our souls

We have drunk from the wine

Of each other's misery. Dined

On each other's sores of anguish

Knowing always that this is the feast

Yes this is the feast laid down for us.

This is the nourishment

That makes us strong

This is the cud we must chew on

Chew and chew when we are old

You and I have no one but each other

This is the marrow of truth we must live on
