Spring Song

You have known me

In all my seriousness,

You have seen me

Wanton and bold,

Often pensive, quiet

But never have you witnessed

Me running amok

Hair flying free in the wind,

Weaving my way

Between those-

Dainty yellow flowers,

As they undulate

In field after field,

Stretching as far

As the eye can see

Never have you spied

This spring spilling freely

From my heart, or

Felt the warmth

Of the February sun--

Warming my heart;

It had been cold, so cold

As I have struggled

To reconcile a love

Never come my way

Come share this Me,

And let us caress and meander

Through those mustard fields,

For they blossom

As my heart does today…
