On reading poetry to a crowd

Poems are hushed
whispers of our hearts.
Too personal and sensitive for
casual display and academic darts

Wisdom can be imparted
Humour can be shared
Injustice can be questioned
Views can be aired
To a room full of strangers -
these can be read
They can be dissected and analyzed
and discussions can be held

How can soul whispers be read aloud
so everyone in the hall can hear
They are meant for a resonating soul
and heard by the heart, not ear.
