RUM-COLA AND SEE

We
once asked one lady to come
To share with us some
Cola and rum.
So what if her very first child
Was extra feeble, extra mild
To such a terrible extent
That she could not, ward off an ant
That bit into her tender skin
All that she did was, make a din.
Seeing, it was not worth its while
She did not go much of a mile
And decided to pre-fix “Late”
At a tender age of eight.
So what if her first child’s soul
Went deep down in a dark black hole
Yet she brightened the world for two
Her doe like eyes still do
Show this world to the two of those
Who had yet only smelt a rose
That happens to be a decree of yore
Now not just rose they see much more.
Much and more is yet to be told,
But
My fingers are numb
And
Feet too cold.

(In
honour of a mother whose first child was afflicted with cerebral palsy. The
child passed away at an age of eight but her eyes live in the lives of two who
were ‘light denied’. This mother faced the life head on. She knew not that
more was to come. The second child is what we call ‘normal’ but the third one
is autistic. The only misery that we share is cola and rum).
