Half Empty Glass

I see the glass resting on the table

It’s content twinkling in the sunlight

More full than empty it seems

Promising peace and a future bright

Bubbles froth and shimmer

Echoing the laughter it holds

Soft ripples tell their own tale

Of tenderness it closely enfolds

Rainbows catch the fluid

As against the walls it dances

Perhaps the empty space is what

Allows this freedom as it prances

Had it been full to the brim

Wouldn’t it have sloshed, spilled

Maybe that is the way life works

Gifting us vacuum to occasionally fill...
