DANCE OF DEATH

Moonlight shines and shimmers
Amidst the dark night sky;
The shadows shroud and pry
Leaving the stars to die.

In a silent, stalking sigh,
The gale glides slowly by.
It whispers a name none dare defy
Death! The unvoiced cry.

Souls in loss return to haunt
Their rotting blood and bone;
A life, a death, only its awn
A gift? A curse? 'Tis but unknown
No dept to pay, no sin to atone
They walk and wander, all alone.

So they are alive, yet all at sea
For their chains are unbroken
They cannot break free.
Thus they have been and always will be.

The end of birth,
A being's last breath
The beginning of eternity
The dance of death.
