Born

Death did not come like a friend
It would be birthed
Like others things brought
Through waters.

Chasing my mother across the bed
Yelling, help me!
But death was slow
And it waited.

When it was born,
We took and covered him-
Wrapped him up carefully,
Sat him beside her.

So they could both rest.
