SISTERS OF THE SCAR

I have seen through a blur of red,
The sick, the tired, the living dead.
I have seen the tricks of men and mice,
And I have seen angels in disguise.

I have lived with pain and with tears,
With memories fresh filled with fears.
I have lain alive in unfilled graves,
Buried under but in open gaze.

I have felt the wet of summer rain,
Seen the mark of spreading stains.
I have looked with closed shuteyes,
Been awake and paralysed.

I have heard insane hysterical cries,
And listened to truth couched in lies.
I have hidden in darkest forest deep,
Given my fire to the hag to keep.

I have swum in angry waters wide,
Seen emotion in ebb and tide.
I have sat alone in gathering gloom,
Seen the barren desert bloom.

I have stroked the hungry crescent bear,
Smelt its growl and its glare.
I have heard my Lady and my Lord,
And leaned against the arm of god.
