I DON'T ASK

I don't ask for your yesterdays,
Nor can I give you mine,
But all of them have led us to
This place our paths combine.

 Don't promise me tomorrows, for
They never do arrive,
And to give things that don't exist
No mortal can contrive.

But if you want to share todays,
I'll take them, one by one,
And spend them with you joyfully
Until our span is done.
