DREAMS

TANKA

 The remnants of sleep

Still cling to my misted mind

But clear thoughts of you

Come instantaneously.

Are they evidence of dreams?

SONNET

Please do not ask me if I dream of you.

I don't remember what I've dreamed by night,

Though I confess that thoughts of you ensue

Upon my waking in the morning light.

Nor must you ask about my dreams by day

Lest I display some feeling I would not

And thus my vulnerable heart betray

By telling much more than I really ought.

Yet, if you listen closely, you may know

The things that I am wishing I might hide,

For everything I say and do will show

The passion I feel growing deep inside,

And many things I think I should not tell

May be revealed when I'm under your spell.
