The heart weeps in silence

daylight seeps through the windowpanes,
cloaking the room in a shroud of despair.

oh god, i don’t want to wake up
again, trapped in a circle of time where

the stupor of sleep is shortlived
and the sobriety of day endless.

no weapon conquers waiting;
there is no enemy, only emptiness.

the bedlam in the street below
is reason to believe the world still goes

on without me. people live and
love and die alone, but nobody knows

it. they make noise without express-
ing anything in either cries or laugh-

ter. the soul is entombed and the
heart weeps in silence for its other half
