STRANGER THAN

I was hooked to the flights of fancy
In the world of imagination, I felt free
To think up the purest, the vilest, the most bizarre
Life had seldom the twists and turns-so I believed
That author bestowed on characters of his play
Thus I perused the muse and pooh-poohed the adage
Of truth being stranger than fiction
The gang opposite took the challenge without batting an eyelid
There was a rush of reality bite, day in, day out they showered news
They were rather proud of their news addiction
I was taken aback by the onrush
Fact were crazy, at times incredulous
They drooled on and on without respite
By and by I veered to the validity of their viewpoint
The religious went rioting without a preamble
Friends became foes and foes turned friends
Turned coat, colored specs- terrible were the fashion trends
Plots thickened and changed course fast, leaving little clues
I was glued to TV for next installment of exciting news
Destinies actually lived out had certainly variety and range
The anchors won hands down, I was left feeling a bit strange
