Reminiscences

As the night trudges on,
I lie awake, thinking of you.
Looking back and reminiscing,
how for you, love in my heart grew.

Illuminated by the silvery moonlight,
the night is peaceful and quiet.
But, deep inside me, nothing seems right,
and from my emotions, I have no respite.

I relive the moments we spent together,
savouring them over and over.
And I'm jolted back to my solitary present,
back to the same sadness and pain.

I still wonder if you'd believe me,
and I eagerly await that day.
I'll always be present at your side,
never leaving you, forever to stay.
