An Attempt at Happiness

I wanted to be happy,
to be cast in a happy mould.
The urge to find Happiness,
of me quickly took hold.

I searched for Happiness,
I looked within and without.
But, there was none that I found,
and nothing I could do about.

I persisted in my quest,
though none did I find.
Weary grew my body,
and tired was my mind.

I thought love would bring me Happiness,
and for a while happy I was.
Not realising in my foolishness,
that of all strife, love's the cause.

And I know that I'm happy now,
with Happiness my heart rhymes.
So what if it's only a wooden mask,
that peels away sometimes.
