Fig Leaf

Donning a moral fig leaf
I walk the virtuous path
Battling against serpents,
who offer me the forbidden.
Tempt me with sugared words
with hypnotic looks allure
My moral fig leaf braves
These tempestous storms
I look satan in the eye,
and walk on.
Oft tempted to give in,
Just once... to enjoy that ecstacy ,
Just once ...ride the waves of passion ,
Just once.. live, just once.. feel ..
Just once.. for that moment
surrender the frozen- numbed existence
Surely there is more to me .
Those conditioned responses,
have long ceased to arouse
Awake those tingling fizzy -dizzy
heady feelings..of eons ago.
But...
Theres a me... the righteous me
That stands rock like
Bails me out ..helps me hold ground,
That gives me courage,
to raise my head high and walk
But then...
I question the moral fibre
I am made up of...
Is it much out of fashion?
Is it way out of style?
Not in step with the times?
Like worn out gauze, my moral fibre
holds water no more ..
I see all slipping thru it
my happiness
my faith
my belief
my love
my dreams
my hopes
my life.
