Midnight foray

Midnight, wide awake
Clad in a string negligee`
She moves, glides
Towards the light.

Bare arms and shoulders
Expanses of pure white
Gleaming softly in the shadows
She prepares to sit back and smile.

Three men, wait and sigh
And begin the game anew
To woo and flirt
Truthfully or not she never knew.

Gently and shyly, apprehensive at first
To reveal or not she wonders
A gentle nudge gives her courage
For this time would never reappear.

To be appreciated for her feminity
Is something she seeks
And switches the glare on herself
Braces for the responses, false or sweet.

It floods and pours,
Lavish and wild
But in her heart she braces
For that untruthful, unkind line.

Unsure she is of her self
Surety may never come
Till someday he gently looks her in the eyes
And whispers," You are the One!"
