WAR

When the war came to a close
There were many hearts beating no more,
Why was the battle fought?
Were the reasons greater than life
That many were lost,
I wonder the stark reality of life
When from my eyes tears flow
While blood in the dead moves no more ,
Hands are still clasping the rifle tight
Even death would have shivered at this sight,
When there is no gain and all loss
In the quest for unending hatred,
Can the war look beyond and see
Those left behind in the dark,
There are widows and orphans in grief
Of the bonds broken by bullets
Which claimed their mark,
I kept on asking but was never answered
Why was the body born
If it was meant to die of a bullet wound
How can one kill each other
And not be punished
I look at the heavens above for justice,
How can any side celebrate victory
When lives have been lost in the battlefield
How can anyone feel joy
When for the lost lives  both side weep
Why is the battle fought
When ultimately there will be grief
No matter who won or who lost
But at some widow or orphans cost
Many relationship are forever lost.
Wounds are such that may never heal
No life is untouched by the battle
There is nothing to hide
When you look at the grieving eyes
The war has to stop somewhere
Then only the healing shall start
Otherwise because of hatred
The wounds will carry a permanent mark
Let there be an end to this war
My father
Let there be an end to this war
