As I cleaned my drawers
Took out the unimportant papers
Did I realize what lay beneath the heap of papers!
As I touched it
My heart skipped a beat
Just as it had
When I first touched it.
It was your first love letter to
me
Something which I was searching for, all these days!
Something which I had hidden from myself
A sincere attempt it was,
To put your memories to rest
As I read it
I sort of re-lived the moment
Remembered how romantic you were
And how I was adamant
As I closed the letter again
I closed the incomplete chapter
The chapter which could never be completed now
The chapter which better be hidden in thoughts.
I put the letter in the fire
And I felt the warmth -
It was not the warmth of the fire
Which protected from the freezing night
It was the warmth of your presence.
The letter was ashes now
Just as you are
The words lost in fire
But feelings deep in my heart
Just as you are.
