OH CHILD OF MINE

With your heart full of laughter

and serenity beyond age

let me kiss you there

oh child of mine

let me lie down beside you

putting your head on my strewn arm

this dark tranquil night

let me sing you sweet nothings

letting in sleep walk your eyes

and in your eyes I see all my dreams

and in my dreams I despair

you have it all yet you have none

and we start loosing

before you have begun

sorry child but time teaches

fate as a writ, sometimes known

whatever, yet, to be endured

like placid lakes

that breaks all time long

on the shingles

even when there is no storm

no valour no vanquished, but its just fate

with the shingles, must the lake stay.
