I Cannot Leave

I cannot leave you,
Though of course I must.
Why is it
That hours were so long
Before my coming
And are so short
Before my going?

All - all of my senses
Are focused on you.
I want to memorize you -
To absorb your essence
Into myself.

With my fingers
I trace your face
And your body.

I watch you as you sleep,
And avidly read your changing face
When you are awake.

I ask you questions
To hear your voice,
And smile as you snore.

In the morning,
I inhale your scent
Upon your clothes
And upon myself.

With each kiss, I taste you,
And I want to kiss you more.

Your smallest touch fills me
With desire for you.
I know nothing and feel nothing
Except you,
And you I can never know nor feel
Enough.

We are eternally linked,
You and I,
In body, mind and heart,
And though I must go,
I will really be here
With you
Forever.
