EYES DON'T SEE

Eyes don't see but the heart understands,
The images of the haunted past,
Let the eyes be shut
From the outside world
Till the pictures of the world
Of chaos and ill give way to grace,
Let my ears be silent
Shut from outside world
Till the wail of a widow
Killed by a human
Is silenced by the passage of time,
When the swoosh of a sword
Be replaced by the caress of a feather,
Let the legs refuse to walk
From every path,
Till the roads merge in one place of unity
Where humans meet,
When they are not guarded by opposing troops with guns in hand
Ready to fire in ignorance of the beauty of oneness of land
Led astray by hostage of greed,
Let my hands never bless,
When some soul spends a night in hunger,
When opposing sides in a battle do not regret,
Let me not taste the morsel of food,
When the hungry child begs in the street,
When the mother and son clasp each other in utter hunger,
And the father comes home with head bowed in emptiness,
Let my thoughts never think,
Till every soul in the earth is literate
When the answers to ignorance
Lies in education,
When everyone can read and write,
Let me not die
Till I have touched someone's heart
Till the purpose of my life is met
And I achieve the purpose of my life
Set forth by divine guidance
Before my final rest.
