UNADORNED

I dream of some day coming to you

With an offering of my bare soul

Unadorned of any jewels rare

Or finery that’d distract from the goal

Draped in a simple cream cloth

Spun with not a single strand of gold

With just my love shining forth

My eyes clear and shamelessly bold

Shall learn no practiced art to beguile,

Or artifice to help pretend otherwise

For in that moment of our unity

Stripped do I want to be of all vice

But then a fear creeps in when I see-

My plainness, in the blaze of those

With almond eyes and sensuous bodies

That in a man can weave lust close

I cannot lie, I too then ashamedly yearn

That my beauty were as if a maze

To keep you there forever

Replete, in an endless daze

But then comfort myself I quietly do

That what I offer is worthy and true

And in that union that we all seek

‘Tis the souls that together fuse anew

So stand I will tall in my simple array

Offering you only the treasure of my heart

With all my love brimming lush and full

Praying to become, of your life a part…
