OCEAN PLAY

Ruffle and tuck
The ocean's fabric
Folded on us
Laughing and racing
Each wave along it's path

We were children
Playing in the surf,
With a watchful parent,
In her easy chair
With sunset backdrop.

Tasted the saltiness,
The strike of the curl
Rushing over us,
Power and beauty
Deepening golden skies.

Glints in the iridescent sun
Dark now as a forest
Between the silt and water
We gathered ourselves
Kept our memories.
