Heaven

It appears to be like a permanent state of mind
One that is devoid of individuality and there fore blind.
I am sure it is holy and worthy of a final endeavor
Rather it would be my choice not to make it forever.

Even earthly life with its deprivation and denial
Contained love, creativity and sharing and was not a trial.
Heaven seems to be a state rather than a place
A time to be somewhere without the presence of face.

To give glory and praise to my God for endless time
Is a blessed event but not one I would choose to be mine.
This earthly life of mine has had its measure of everything
Love, caring, sharing, happiness and even sorrow it did bring.

Diverse people of family, religions and races
Each a separate and distinct gift from God in their faces.
My journey on this earth had a small measure of perfection
But then; how could I have recognized it without rejection.

I have seen beauty that had color and an immense view
My God; my God; for within that I saw you.
A sunset filled with shinning gold
Giving of itself as tho forever young and bold.

The cry of a new born and its softness of skin
My God you give life to earth again and again.
The bleakest and primitive of this globe called earth
It is bathed by the same sun and has the same worth.

The sun falls below the horizon as though it never came
Yet the Giver of all life will renew it exactly the same.
