O' time, O' time, O'
time;
Truly I thought you were a friend of mine.
Most of you went quickly rather than to stay
Elusive to be your trademark along the way.
O' time without you there could be no measure
As you kept the keys to life's most precious treasure.
The first moment of love that can last for all time
A touch, a kiss, a word, to always be mine.
So time you really have been a friend to me
You allow visions from the past and present for me to see.
Some say you are a sorcerer who influences our lives as magic
To encompass earthly events that are happy and also tragic.
You are the harbinger of only what is to come
Not just for the powerful and majestic but every single one.
You have given us the past and time in its present state
But hold for yourself the future which is for us plain fate.
In my youth you seemed never to move at a pace called fast
Was it a trick? As you seem to forever last.
Now at my time of present and experience of age
You pass as in a blink of an eye or the reading of a single page.
You have accompanied me as a specter and also as a friend
Before even my beginning and now at my pending end.
But it matters not whether you passed fast or slow
For you were the measure of everything that I came to know.
