MOTHER'S PLACE

We capitalize a particular or significant person, place, or thing
Yet ignore our Mother without whom we would be nothing,
She who loved us even more than her own body and soul
The compassionate one for each child was her role.

My wonderful beautiful Mother never had her day
She wed my father and in time became the slave.
It was not my father's fault for it just was so
Too many of the male gender who even today just don't know.

Mother became queen of a precious seven
Also blest when she arrived in heaven.
She was not given wishes but an eternity of desires
The kind that provide heat and light and void of fires.

For each one of her children she was awarded a multiple of seven
One day for each eternity she will chose to spend in heaven.
She can make her selection from a menu of many
Not just the expensive but at times to chose the shining penny.

What she was denied on earth regardless of reason
She is entitled to select and use for more than one season.
Her sacrifices to be rewarded from a catalogue of choices
Wonderful warm and strong things with lyrical voices.

Her name to appear on the heavenly scroll
Another menu of selections from the eternal roll
So ma you have what you so richly deserve
Save me a place at your dinner table and I will serve.
