The Wasted Night

I shouted,
And I screamed,
Feigning anger,
Letting out words I didn't mean,
Arrows dabbed in poison,
Blunt,
Hoping to create a wall of rage
That protects me
From the impending sorrow of parting.

The reason was immaterial,
Things I had overlooked in the past,
But this time I chose to react,
Exaggerate its effect,
Drown in a hypocrisy
Of misunderstanding,
I took the easy path
For I was afraid of letting go
Without a reason...

And then it struck me,
The horror of my deed,
Precious moments lost forever
In my stupidity,
With less than a month to go,
Every night counts,
And tonight was one wasted,
For it ended without the promise
Of another morning,
Without sweet dreams...
