Spot
light monuments
Glow
mystically in the dark
As
I drive past them
Igniting
in me, an answering spark
Through
your eyes I see
The
beauty of my ancient
city
And
wonder when will
I
share with you these sights so pretty
Tombs
of Humayun
stand
All
lit, mutely as if waiting for you
The
sprawling gardens of
Lodi
Are
shimmering in the night dew
Legacies
of the Pandavs
Stand
awe inspiringly sprawled
The
ruins of their fort so majestic
That
even they will unfailingly enthrall
We
shall hear the tinkle
Of
the dancing girl’s ankle bells
At
the fort
so red, where
Centuries
ago she in the palaces dwelled
The
view from the Qutab
Minar
Lays
the city sprawled at your feet
For
you alone have they reopened
The
climb, so you can see every small street
The
bustle of the Chandni
Chowk
Gingerly
astride a cycle rick-shaw
Will
long remain in your ears
As
you marvel at the confusion in awe
I
hear them all calling for you
Eagerly,
wanting to see you there
I
do not wait for you to come
It
is them
that impatiently long to share…
