I
was the keeper of justice,
and it was my job,
to execute anyone who committed a crime,
be it to kill or to rob.
I
took pride in my work,
and walked with head held high.
For, I was fair and just,
no fear from anyone in my eye.
One
day, they brought a boy,
young, innocent and fair.
They said he'd killed a man,
and he was sentenced to the chair.
With
a trembling hand,
but nary a sigh.
I pressed the switch and wiped a tear,
as I watched my only son die.
