SHUTTERED TIGHT

Will is now comatose & tranquil

Abandoned gratefully to eternal sleep

So that all around me has become still

And does not upon me pain heap

A shutter pulled twixt the chambers

Tears, Touch and Soul tight

To let the inner me lie in slumber

For this is only what now feels right

Let me be I plead of you all now

I cannot bear the weight or brunt

Of dreams & hopes that make me bow

I’d much rather feel nothingness upfront

Oh do not drag my face to look it again in the eye

That which I have long tried to do

I am weak I accept, and can no longer lie

In wait for that dawn I shall never view

This ship will sink so fast don’t you see

If all the chambers are laid bare

Swirling with destruction shall enter the sea

And the force of it I will be unable to bear

Let the shutters remain as I have downed

For the shore is still a while away

Perhaps it will float and finally find ground

To anchor with peace in death’s eternal bay…
