End of Love

She's lonely as the tear,
that slides down her cheek.
She kneels downs and lays,
a single white rose,
on a stone washed clean by her tears.

Her frail voice breaks,
and her delicate frame,
is racked by sobs of sorrow,
as she tells the children,
of their immortal love.

Her trembling fingers move,
tracing the contours of the stone,
lovingly.............................
....................wistfully........

A solitary tear slips down her face,
and she hastily wipes it away,
as she recalls the tumultuous times,
they had spent together.

Slowly, she gets to her feet,
and touches the stone.
It's cold, in stark contrast to,
the warm heart that lies beneath,
whispering tearfully, "I love you,"
for the last time, she walks away.
