They say
I am blind
This
world I cannot see
It is a
visual handicap
That is
restricting me.
The regal
rainbow, the shimmering stars
Yes,
these I haven’t enjoyed
For me,
the only colour black
Eternal
opaqueness, just a deep void
But even
in this darkness
I can
clearly see a lot
Though I
am blind
A fool I
am not.
I can
easily recognize
Pity –
a mile away
That’s
not what I seek
How oft
do I say.
Indifference
too, I have seen
Many a
callous soul
They
couldn’t care less
If I died
crossing the road.
I can see
a helping hand
That
concern in a stranger’s eyes
This love
for humanity
I can
easily recognize.
Hypocrisy
I can see through
This
pretence to be good
In front
of the right people
Mouthing
the right platitudes.
In
constant pursuit of materialistic gain
The
desire to have more
I can see
many a modern man
So hollow
to the core!
Loyalty,
yes I can see that too
Those
faithful companions
Just
always there to share and care
In
friendship so pure and true.
I also
see those hard core professionals
With
benumbed hearts and mechanized brains
Unmindful
whom they trample over
But ahead
they must remain!
I can see
the frauds and the cheats
With whom
our world abounds
Depraved
souls, glib talking con men
Fooling
the simpletons all around.
I can see
love and trust
Though
this a commodity rare
Not mere
words “I love you”
But deeds
which prove feelings sincere.
I lack
the physical eyesight
To see
the red, green, yellow and blues
But I do
possess the vision
To see
this world in all its varied hues.
Blind! Am I?
