A Lover’s Reply

Life takes us down strange paths in umptine ways;

No one can know their ends for sure ahead;

And by the time we learn, gone are our days;

And when we’re wise, we are almost half-dead!

In life, if lucky we do meet just once;

A second time is not offered to all;

At any time prevail should common-sense;

No one can walk without having a fall!

Our love isn’t corporeal or divine;

Love is a feeling strong within a mind;

If things do happen our way, it is fine;

If not, our thoughts shouldn’t us enslave or bind.

The road we’ve taken can’t be now retraced;

Life’s decisions taken can’t be effaced!
