Meera nai toe keh daala,

Main kya boolu mere Ram,

Is kalyug ke bhoolbhlaiya mein khoye

Mere who sawarai, sunder Shyam

 

Janam sai he, iss vyakkol mann mein,

Ek pyaas ajeeb samayee hai

Mein bhi banoo ek din piya ki pyaree

Yeh tujhe se duhai hai

 

Itna toe batla de O Bhagwan

Is bhanwar mein jo tune utaara hai

Mere Kanha ko bhi is kalyug mein

Behshaque tone kahin banaaya hai

 

Mann main bassi hai moore Prabhu

Meera ki he madhoor vani,

Tann mein agann jale hai morai

Radha se mai prem diwanee

 

Iss matwali kaari duniya mein

Morai Kaanha, tohe kahan dhoondhu mai,

Mein tori  raah ektook ho dekhoo

Bus aur kuch bhi naa janoo mai

 

Pal bhi yeh aass nahi mitt-paatee

Ke ek din tu bhi aayeega,

Is bawari, akeli bairagan ko he

Tu saprem apni Radha banayega

“You may leave me my beloved,

I cannot ever leave you,

For after giving you my heart my lord Krishna,

Who can ever try equal you”*

 

Meera (bai) has said it all

Now what more can I add O Lord,

Lost is he, in the maze of this life,

My beloved, handsome Shyam

 

There is this endless restlessness in my heart

A strange thirst too resides deep within,

That some day I am as beloved as her (Radha)

I do humbly beg this of you

 

Just assure me of this O my Lord

Now that I am lost in the whirlpool of this life

That there too exists my Krishna in this world

Waiting for me somewhere, sometime

 

Resides in my heart, O my Lord

The same sweet melody as did reside in Meera

The same fire sets my body ablaze

That lit Radha’s, that eternal beloved of Krishna

 

In this selfish, self centered world

Oh my Krishna where should I seek you…

I await your arrival unendingly

That is all that I am aware of so true

 

Not for a moment does this belief abandon me

That one day you will surely come to me

And make this passionate, lonely maiden

Your beloved for all eternity to come!
